Klan Ratsnik

A Skaven horde for Warhammer Fantasy

Clan Ratsnik claims its origins on a blessing by the Horned Rat. Its rivals on the other hand call the clan a band of upstarts and escaped slaves. Whatever the truth may be, clan Ratsnik's origins probably date back to the year 230 after Sigmar, when a large underway was built that led from the Border Princess to Arabia and Cathay. Clan Ratsnik was one of the clans that built this underway and eventually controlled its current homegrounds in the Badlands near the Dragon Back Mountains. Along with it the clan holds good portion of the underway to Arabia and its sideways. No skaven can make his way through this territory without the concent of clan Ratsnik. And since the collapse of the direct underway that led from Estalia to Arabia, clan Ratsnik has greatly profited from the tolls they enact from every passenger.

It is unknown if clan Ratsnik has a special affiliation to any of the greater clans. They have bought warmachines from clan Skryre, contracted assassins from clan Eshin and have a large number of giant rats and rat ogres. These troops take on assisting roles, while the backbone of clan Ratsnik's armies is usually formed by clan rats and storm vermin. There are persistend rumours though of a strong affiliation to clan Eshin. These rumours are backed up by the strong number of Eshin troops employed by the clan as well as the fact that clan Eshin seems to be content with clan Ratsnik controlling the underways to Cathay. If there is a secret agreement between these clans or if clan Ratsnik is only an offspring of clan Eshin is a mystery that even the Lords of Decay would like to unravel.
