Gordian Crusade - like most Black Templars' crusades - consists of a marshal's staff and several detachments or battle groups. The organisation does not follow any given pattern like the Codex Astartes, but is solely based on need, practicability and loyalty. It is extremely flexible and could be changed any day if need arose.
The marshal's staff is formed by a large number of officers as well as the sword brethren, the crusade's veterans. They function as staff, advisors and reinforcements in battle. The officers are probably veteran sword brethren that await orders to take over their own battle group.
Other than most marshals Sir Kraton of Indigo has decided to also add most of the crusade's heavy support to the crusade HQ in the form of a support group. This is not because he favours the Codex Astartes concept, but simply because there are not enough support units yet to supply all battle groups as needed.
The battle groups are roughly the equivalent of a company of a regular space marine order as far as structure and size is concerned, but do not follow any strict organisation chart, just like the rest of the crusade. They vary largely in size and composition, especially since the Gordian Crusade is still in the process of being raised. The battle groups again form task force depending on their current orders and the immediate battle situation.
The exact numbers of the Gordian Crusade's detachments and overall forces is unknown to date, but it is rumoured that they are distinguished by their shoulder pads. The crusade is still growing in numbers and as such the detachments probably have not yet reached their final structure.
The crusade also includes a large number of non-fighting personnel and support units as well as orbital support. However, too litle is known about their size to provide any details.
